The entire staff were very knowledge and excellent instructors. They were patient and kind while explaining the subject matter to me. When I was in the truck and behind the wheel they were reassuring and very encouraging. They did everything they could to accommodate my schedule. Hats off to Marlynda, Ali, Betty, Gina, Dennis and Dakota. I would whole - heartedly recommend Blackwolf to anyone who is seeking a CDL license. The information they teach is exactly what you need to pass your CDL, they have a very high success rate amongst students. The facility is clean and staff are helpful. The downside and why I'm giving them a 4 star is due to staffing, equipment, and time at school. Anecdotl experience here, I quit my job to do this school full time assuming I'd be in school for 8 hours each day... This wasn't the case, I did week days and ended up only doing 5 hours of class a day on most days, so I was disappointed that they didn't have more time to teach, this is due to lack of staff, they honestly need 2 more instructors so students aren't fighting for time slots, as well needing more equipment... When I did my 9-10 weeks of school, they had 2 simulators that weren't working as well as a truck break down on them, according to them, the simulators had been out for a while and the company that fixes them has poor customer service, so it can't be helpedn not entirely their fault, same with the broken down truck... Shit happens, however, it was very frustrating for myself and other students I talked with, I'm sure Black Wolf isn't happy about it either... But just know, you may endupf waiting for time slots, equipment, and trainers. If I could do it again I'd recommend you get your CDL permit before you go to this school. I felt like I wasted 2-3 weeks in the classroom portion, however, the classroom portion that lasted those 3 weeks were informative, they truly aren't needed if you use an app called "CDL prep" they recommend you don't use it as it only gives the answers to the questions on the test and you won't gain the "why" behind those answers... However, of you are trying to get your CDL fast I recommend using that app as well as looking up "section 14 CDL pre tests" online, make sure it's for Texas and it's the correct year. Again, Black Wolf will prefer you avoid outside applications as they cannot assure success this way, however... Personally they really helped me and I passed my permit test the first time using this method. If you do this by yourself and show up with your CDL permit in hand you can skip the class room portion and go straight to pre trip study and simulators most likely, it'll save you 3 weeks. Since they didn't have much time or staff to train everyone or at least let me get my 8 hours each day, I recommend staying employed if you can, they work with your schedule mostly because they don't have time to schedule you full time anyway (week days) I'm unfamiliar with night/weekend classes so perhaps those are different 🤷♂️ Lastly, if you are able to train under Marlinda or Dakota, I highly recommend taking advantage of them as much as possible, they are amazing teachers, not to say that the other staff are bad, I just found them to be super informative and easy to work with. I didn't work with Denis much, but he's a chill guy, I have no complaints Betty is an incredible teacher but she's too strict when it comes to testing, I can pass at a 98% with all other staff on tests, but Betty wants it word for word, to the point where she corrected me for saying pressed " and not "pushed" during my in cab break test, not the end of the world, she's a sweetheart, just very anal about the exact wording. Ali, she knows her shit, however she comes across as grumpy, she'll never lead you wrong, she just comes off very abrasive and for me personally it was hard to learn from her, perhaps just a personal teaching style that wasn't very pleasant to me... But again, she knows her shit. All in all I recommend this school but keep in mind you are left on your own with the tools they provide, so if you need a little more hand holding as you go, they may not give it to you, so buckle up, readeand memorize your in cab and pree trip, you'll be out of there under 10 weeks if you focus Dylan Jones2025-09-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
